This website has been designed to keep grandparents all over the world in touch with their grandchildren. We hope to keep you updated with the latest and greatest of everything that is going on here in the Ghedini household even though we are miles away. We hope to include pictures and anecdotes of goings on here and we hope to let you the grandparents put stuff up for the kids too. This is for the future. For now we love you
The Boggler is back after a long break, where the editor in cheif took out other employment and then some time out to learn JavaScript. Please note the latest update in the site- the date is actually correct now!!!(For those who didn't notice before the month was always one number less than the actual month. Prizes to Bubi for spotting this and alerting us.) We look forward to more changes. But ask that no one holds their breath too much.
While The Boggler has been away, the coverage was non exsitant for some very key events. Cousin Dan being sworn in to the army, and of course Bubi and Zadi's visit to Israel. Which was for all envolved the most wonderful time. A few reports were sent in from England from our Golders Green corespondant that went unposted. The Boggler apoliogises for those failiures but hopes to resume normal (if not improved) service.
Our Beloved Booba turns a grand old 94, pictures of her celebrating the great event were communicated to The Boggler from our London, Golders Green corespondant. Booba is now the matriach of a great legacy boasting two daughters, five grandchildren and seven grandchildren. Not to mention the many -in-laws who love her, and she has loved like her own. Booba is currently in care at "Sage" where reports say that the conditions there are very plesant and that she is well looked after. Booba herself is said to be doing "Very well.". The Boggler editorial staff would like to take this oppertunitity to wish Booba many happy returns and many more. We thank our corespondants for this wonderful communication.
Tonight we are having whole wheat pasta and home made italian bread. (Betzalel doesn't like the bits on the foccacia bread.)
Oriel had his birthday this last week and on Friday he had two Birthday two parties to celebrate. The first one took place at gan, the parents were uninvited. the second party was at the Ghedini residance where only Oriel's closest friends came. They played skittles, pass the parcel, blind man's bluff and volley-balloon. Then there was the cake unveiling, the cake(s) had been lurking under a table cloth the whole time and a short snack/meal followed by eating the cake and cookies and the friends all settled down together to watch a movie. Today marked the sixth aniversary of the birth of Oriel, who has risen to become one of the key members of the Ghedini household. To mark his birthday he recived presents from family. Gifts were also given to Daphna and Betzalel. Daphna recived her own set of crayons and Betzalel recived a lego racing car. Oriel was given a futuristic armoured vehical and some DVDs (the later from Saba and Safta). Oriel thanked everyone for the presents that he recived.
Later in the day Betzalel was helping Daphna take the wrapping of the crayons when one of the broke in two. Betzalel was reported to have said Well now you have two!
Oriel's Birthday according to the Georgian calendar falls oiut on the 22nd December. The Ghedinis do not celebrate Oriel's Hebrew Birthday because it is a fast day. Tomorow morning begins a series of festivities that begin with Oriel reciveing his present. The normal Ghedini tradition of having a special Birthday breakfast will not be observed until Friday. (Because Mummy forgot to by the special cerial and the special yogurts. -Silly Mummy.) But the present opening section of the ceremonies will be observed.
Fridays activities are highly antispated. There will be a party held at gan in Oriels honor. (Sponsored unwittingly by Saba and Safta.-Thank you Saba and Safta.)
He will then be bringing his special friends home for a private function at the residance, where more friends and relatives have been requested to join him. The function is expected to have a sporting theme; games to include skittles and volley balloon.
The event will be catered by Mummy Catering inc. Complaints should be directed to that corporation. Before anyone asks. There are unconfirmed rumors that MC inc uses the Ghedini Gingerbread Factory for some of it's supplies and may be providing the cake. The factory has still been unable to gain approval of the Health Ministry. Minors were seen there making chocolate chip cookies earlier in the week, although several of the cookies did not have the requisite number of chips in to pass normal chocolate chip cookie standards. (As set by Oriel.) Daphna was questioned in regard to this matter but made no comment.
Beit Shemesh is finaly getting winter weather suited to the time of the year, it rained and thundered all of last night and it continues to rain as The Boggler goes to print. Wind speeds have been reported to have reached 75 km/ hr. The Ghedini family, who have not really needed winter clothes to date, went out dressed in two layers each and a coat on top. The children were cautioned "No puddle jumping" the caution was largely adheared to. (Largely) They arrived at gan a bit wet on top, but none the worse for wear and not complaing of being cold. Except Oriels right hand. When the complaint was submitted, a recommendation was made to put the hand into a pocket. The recommendation was executed and seemed to eleviate the problem. (His left hand was fine because Mummy was holding it.) The much needed rains comes after fears that there would be no winter at all this year. It is hoped that the rains will continue and make up for the lack of rain so far this year. It is not known how realistic such a hope might be.
Marlena was taken to the vet amid fears that she is too old, she has seemed latley to be unable to find her litter tray and has hade a great deal more furballs than one expect from a cat. The vet suggested puting out more trays for her to find and change her food to one that prevents furballing. The first action has already been taken and the second on hold until Mummy finds a source for the recommended food. Marlena did not have a furball today (yet).
The vet also noted that Marlena is actually blind. It is suspected that this blindness occured sometime ago when a reddening in her eyes was seen. At the time the internet was used to diagnose a detatched retina, caused by problems of the kidneys. When the red cleared it was thought that her blindness, confirmed by her improvments in her behviour had also cleared. It is now understood that the improvemnt in her behaviour was due to her aclimatising to her predicament, not to recovery from it. The vet refused to confirm this since he was unable to observe the reddening in her eyes in the first place.

Strike reaches overseas here in Golders Green, as our London corespondant Autie Sandy reports, no Latkes have been made this may be due to the fact that Penina Orah Klein doesn’t like them, no doughnuts have been fried only bought and consumed with much appreciation from Grodginsky bakery I can also report Penina has been off school due to a really bad cold in fact half her class are off sick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mummy has been rushing up and down the stairs making hot water bottles and hot drinks ect ect. Penina has enjoyed all her presents though earrings make up, and make up cases, make your own magical snow, which we have yet to try, many hello kitty items such as scarf gloves, mummy got her pink leather ones and a pink sequin hat not hello kitty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Slipper socks and a stain glass making kit which Mummy really enjoyed making with me!!!!!
The Ghedini Factory reopened today, most of the workers were on strike. Only Daphna crossed the picket line. The factory had just finished producing Honey Dreidle shaped cupcakes, when Daphna submitted to her peers and went off to play. the managemnt continue to make Dounghnuts. The strike ended when it was time to divide up the produce.
There was a disapointing lack of rain here in Beit Shemesh, where although there were large clouds visible, there was very little precipitation throughout the day. The climat remains cold, but the forcast for the rest of the week is sunny.
Ghedinis decide to open a cookie factory, uterlising the considerable cheap labor on the site. The minors were put to work in conditions that have yet to be inspected by the Health Ministry. Sources say the Ministry have no plans to check the site. (You ask them; they really don't!!!) the laborers were made to cut shapes (stars, hearts, duck, teady bears, and men.) Daphna was reported to have been forced to cut a Butterfly shaped one. The cookies were then baked and then the workers were made to decorate them with sprinkles, chocolate chips and mentos. They were not allowed to eat the decorations while they were doing the job. Daphna was accused of eating some of the chocolate chips before they got to the cookies but reports remain unconfirmed. (Please note Bogglers previous article entitled Daphna inherets Chocoholic Gene.)The workers were then paid with there own work and allowed to eat one cookie, it was claimed that it was nearly lunch time and further cookies would be allocated later. It wasn't until a day later that all the cookies and been allocated. Not all of the cookies were alloted to the workers. Abba and Mummy and some guests had some too. Negotiations are underway which may envolve the company expanding to produce lemon biscuits, this did not impress upon the workers because the lemon biscuits are genrally made without decoration cutting back the workers hours substantially, as well as opppertunities for syphening off waste products. (eg chcoclate chips) the company may move to less controvercial cupcake manufacture after the recivership of new cupcake molds.
All the kids are on holiday from Gan, the Boggler is working with skeleton crew. Please understand delays in publishing articles may be unavoidable. Efforts have been made to maintain to keep the website running but slowing down of publications is inevitable. Thank you for understanding. It finally rained in Bet Shemesh. After months without rain, there was finally a small down pour today, hope holding out that there will be more tonight.
Parcels arrive from America in time for Chunkah. The Ghedini family were delighted to recive loads of presents from Bubi and Zaidy. they toyus and books and clothes were all well recived by everyone. Oriel built his Dinosaur and Betzalel played with his robot. Daphna spent most of Shabbat arrangeing it on the kitchen table. David took his jacket to work and Mummy wore her new cardigan today, the rainy weather called for it, Mummy felt very luxiourious and very warm. The DVDs were all watched and again. The boys enjoyed Mummy's DVD too. Oriel read his book in his evening session and Daphna asked Mummy to read her's to her too. We now know the dangers of giving a cat a cup cake. The cats chased their Dreidel and thei Chunkiyah allaround the house and munched down on their treats. We all enjoyed our Chocolate coins. Oriel and Betzalel took turns being horses and Dinosaurs and Daphna danced to "hop little bunny" in her pink bunny cotume. Guess whos camerea ran out of batteries right at the wrong moment!!!! Some photos were taken and I will put them up as soon as I get the chance.
Last night we lit the first candle of Chunukah. Oriel, Betzalel and Daphna were allowed to stay up late until Abba got home from work. We lit candles, sang "Mor Uz Tsor". "When are you going to stop?" asked Oriel about half way through. Then we had doughnuts and then chocolate coins and then we had Chunukah presents. Oriel and Betzalel each got two Lego racing cars with track that they could put together and Daphna got a Dolls Wedding enterage. We stayed up later still building the race cars and playing with the dolls. Tonight we look forward to "Bubi and Zaidy night". Mummy recently went to pick up four large parcels from the post office. Thank you Bubi and Zaidy!!!
The front door of the apartment building is mostly glass, and a sash in the middle. They not so long ago put in new glass and new frames. A few days ago one of the lower pains of glass was smashed and some very consiencious neighbor removed all of the broken bits from in and around the frame. Nobody has yet gotten around to replaceing the glass leaving a very large hole. Even Oriel has/had difficulty opening the door, the door being quite heavy. But now they have their own entrance which doesn't at all look like an entrance and so Oriel decided that they can use magic to get through the door. Mummy, has to open the door, Mummy doesn't know about magic (or is to lazy to squat down below the sash to got through). But Imp Oriel, Pixie Betzalel and Fairy Daphna evidently do. They just go right through that door. They think they are very clever and very magical being able to do that. Mummy thinks they can do magic too. But I don't think it is the kind of magic they are thinking of.
Mummy got a part time job, working for the local telephone directory. (Like yellow pages.) She phones around and confirms that data going in to the directory is correct. The hours are extremly flexable with no minium or maxium hours, she can start and stop however often she likes and it is work from home too. All she needs to do now is wait for more data to clean, she ran out!!!. Oh and a pay check!
Oriel, Betzalel and Daphna could not find anything much to do over shabbat so we had a wild Shabbat. This envolved jumping on couches and running around like head less chickens. Mummy decided that we better organise and it was elected to have a more formal excersie session, where if we have all that energy to burn let's use it at least semi productivly. We learnt to do stretches, sit ups, push ups and star jumps. There were also running games to help learn our left and right and counting up to twenty. Who was the smart guy who decided that eleven should come after ten and not oneteen. And whats with that twelve thing? What is wrong with twoteen? And even thriteen isn't all that great. I can say "threeteen", thats not such a mouthful. And just for the record, Yes Daphna counts up to ten no problem and the boys can do up to twenty in Hebrew, well Hebrew doesn't have any strange rules at 11, 12 and 13. So they ran around the table touching the floor with their right hand when Mummy called "Touch Right" and touched the floor with their left hand when Mummy called "Touch left". And when Mummy called "Touch ceiling".... Well nearly.
Betzalel recived a box of presants all the way from the United States. The box included presents for Daphna and Oriel too. There was one book each, one DVD each, pyjamas for each of Oriel and Betzalel and lots of different well fitting clothes for Betzalel. Betzalel was reported to comment after that it felt like his Birthday all over again. He thanked those responsible for sending the genorous gifts, Bubi and Zaidy. An unnamed source suggested that there were treats in there for Abba Mummy and the too cats but there is no more evidance left supporting this theory. Betzalel's biggest present were two transformer robots a helicopter and a motorbike. Two of Betzalel's favourite vehicales to date. Betzalel was not available to comment on the robots, he was busy hopping up and down.
The Ghedini family went to the library today(Tuesday), their mission there was two fold. Firstly, Betzalel had to get to his extra Hebrew class, and secondly, Daphna and Oriel had to choose some books to read and/or take out. Both missions were accomplished successfully.
Betzalel was at first reluctant to be left by himself with his tutor, but when she pulled out some fun games he warmed up to it. Daphna and Oriel then proceeded to the library where they read books about "Barney and Baby Bop" and another one about Penguines in Antartica.
Oriel found a back issue (2004) of my back yard to look at while Daphna was read to.
A PD James book was found for David, Oriel found another Dr Suess book to read:Scrambled eggs super.
Which turned out to be a rather difficult book when we got it home, but Oriel had a good go at it.
After a while it was time to get Betzalel from his tutorial and of course at that exact moment Oriel found an amazing dinosaur encyclopedia!! We found Betzalel and came back for the book. After checking out the encyclopedia the family left the library and headed home. Oriel and Betzalel spent the rest of the afternoon reading the new book, breaking only for a mac and cheese supper.
